Every pane on the vehicle, not just the windshield. From our Stockton Road shop most North Haledon jobs run an hour or two once the part is on hand, and glass for common vehicles is usually available the same day. Give us the year, make and model and we identify the exact piece.

People discover how many separate pieces of glass a car has at the worst possible moment. Beyond the windshield there is door glass that has to travel up and down in a track, fixed quarter panes behind the doors, small vent windows on some models, a rear pane with defroster lines and often an antenna printed into it, and on plenty of newer vehicles a sunroof or a full roof panel. Each uses different glass, different seals and a different removal sequence, and getting the right one starts with the VIN rather than the model name.
Being the borough's own shop helps with the part more than with the labour. When a North Haledon customer calls in the morning about a broken quarter glass, we are checking regional stock straight away rather than at the end of a run of other calls, and if the piece is in the area we can usually have it that day. Where it has to come further we say so honestly and give you a date. Nothing gets substituted with a close-enough pane that leaves you with a whistle at speed or a tint that does not match the rest of the car.
“Auto Glass without a doubt has to be the best company for replacing car windshields ! First you have Jen who runs the office and is kind, courteous and truly a professional! She will go out of her way to make sure that you're satisfied…”

The ridge above Sicomac Avenue is heavily wooded, and that shapes what breaks here. We replace more sunroof panels and rear panes for North Haledon addresses than the flat boroughs below us, because a wet snow or a summer storm brings limbs down onto cars parked in the open beside the house, and a limb landing on a roof panel does not leave a repairable mark. Driveway parking is the other factor, and it cuts both ways. Cars here are rarely damaged by passing traffic, which is why door glass survives longer than it does at a kerb, but they sit outside under cover all night, every night. Most of the borough jobs we book are damage that happened while nobody was anywhere near the vehicle.

Often, yes, provided the weather is settled and there is level ground to work on. Roof glass is bonded rather than sat in a track, so it needs the same care with adhesive and cure time as a windshield does. Where the panel is part of a larger panoramic assembly we sometimes want the vehicle at the shop, and we will tell you which applies when we identify the part.
From the VIN. It tells us the exact build, which matters because the same model in the same year can have different tint bands, different antenna printing in the rear pane, or a heated element that a cheaper equivalent lacks. Working from the model name alone is how people end up with a rear window whose defroster tabs do not line up with their harness.
For most side and rear glass it makes no real difference, and being minutes away we are happy either way. Bonded glass such as a rear pane or a roof panel benefits from settled weather, so if the forecast is poor we would rather take the car at the shop than set adhesive in the rain and hope. Chip in a windshield aside, the choice is usually yours.
