Larger vehicles bring larger glass problems, and Wayne drives a lot of large vehicles. Panoramic roof panels, deep privacy-tinted rear panes and long fixed quarter windows on three-row SUVs are all parts where the difference between correct and approximately correct is obvious as soon as the car is back together. Tint density has to match the surrounding glass, heating elements have to terminate where your harness expects them, and a bonded roof panel has to be set with the same care a windshield gets. So we work from the VIN and quote the real part.
Doing that work at the house rather than at the shop suits the township, and the driveways here make it practical. There is room for the van, the vehicle and a tech walking a full circuit around a long SUV without anyone reversing anything. The pane is fitted, the cavity or channel is vacuumed out properly, seals and clips are renewed rather than reused, and where the glass is bonded the car stands undisturbed for its full cure. Getting the part right is usually the slow step, and that happens before anyone drives to you.

The lake neighbourhoods explain a good share of Wayne's non-windshield glass work. Roads around Packanack and Pines Lake wind under heavy tree cover, and the cars there park outside beneath it, so a wet snowfall or a summer storm delivers a limb onto a roof panel or a rear window with the vehicle standing still. Those are the calls we get the morning after weather. The other source is far more mundane: the retail lots along Route 46 and around the Willowbrook interchange, where high turnover, tight bays and doors opened without much thought take out quarter glass and door windows through the year. Between the trees and the parking, a lot of Wayne glass breaks with nobody behind the wheel.

Roof glass is bonded like a windshield, so it needs settled weather and level ground, and some panoramic assemblies are involved enough that we would rather have the car at the shop with the roof lining fully supported. Factory privacy tint comes in specific densities, and a pane a shade off is noticeable from outside the car in daylight even when everything else about the fit is perfect. If the correct part has a lead time we will tell you rather than fitting a near match and hoping you do not spot it.
