A limb through a rear window makes a mess that a door window never does. The pane bursts inward and downward, so fragments land in the trunk well, under the parcel shelf, in the folds of the rear seat backs and inside the ducting that feeds the rear vents. Then the leaves, twigs and water that came with the branch land on top. Driving the car at that point simply distributes everything further, which is why we ask Wyckoff customers to leave it standing and let the van come to the driveway instead.
On site we work through it in order. The debris comes out first, the aperture is cleaned back to a surface the new glass can bond to or seat against, and the fragments in the trunk and seat backs are vacuumed rather than shaken loose.
